Winding Down October

It's Halloween, which means October is very close to being over.  Which means it's time for a wrap-up post!

This month, I participated in the Spooktacular October Paranormal Reading Challenge, hosted by Marie at Ramblings of a Daydreamer.  Basically, to participate, you just had to read and post a review of at least three paranormal-themed books throughout the month of October.  And bonus, there is to be a giveaway once the challenge has officially closed!  Anyway, for this challenge, I read:  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling, The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters by Ben H. Winters and Jane Austen, and The Better To Hold You by Alisa Sheckley.

I also participated in Random Acts of Kindness (RAK), hosted by the lovely ladies over at Book Soulmates.  What you do is you sign up on their linky for that month, and post a link to your wishlist.  Then, someone may send you an item from your wishlist, and you can browse other people's lists to send them something as well!  It was a great experience, and I definitely plan to participate again.

This month, I was able to both give and receive a few things!  Here's what I got:  Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver (from Amanda at Letters Inside Out), Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen (from Tena at The Crazy Book Slut) and Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (from the lovely Arianne Cruz).  Thanks again to all you ladies!

I also received one ARC this month for review:  Tempest by Julie Cross, to be released in January 2012.  I'll be reading that one once I finish my current read, so be on the lookout for my review!  Big thanks to Library Thing for making this available through their site for Early Review, and a huge thanks to St. Martin's Press for sending this out to me!

So!  Happy Halloween to everyone, and have a safe and fun evening!  I'll be back tonight with a special treat for you all, so stay tuned!
